About | July 28, 1953 to August 30, 2010 posted TCH September 2, 2010 Peggy went peacefully to be with Our Lord and Savior on August 30th, 2010 after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born to Marty Collins and Roy Collier in Spokane, WA on July 28th, 1953. She moved to the Tri-Cities as a child in 1962. She graduated from Keewaydin/Kennewick High School in 1971. She married Robert Nichols in 1972 and she gave birth to her only child, Joel Nichols. Peggy was a secretary in the medical field before moving on to Benton County District Court for the last 16 years where she was a court clerk. Peggy shared her life with her longtime, loving partner, Jerry VanHoosen. In addition to many other travels together, she loved their annual trip to Mexico. She and Jerry were even able to take a vacation to Seaside, OR on August 15th. For years, they enjoyed golfing in the summer and bowling in the winter with their dear friends. Peggy had a passion for life. She loved entertaining guests year round and dearly enjoyed visits with her grandsons, friends and family. She looked forward to her "girls" weekend getaways and wine tasting in the spring. Peggy's smile and spirit were contagious. She enriched the lives of all she met with her kind heart, caring ways and positive attitude for life. She was loved deeply by family and friends and will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. On May 15th, 2010 Peggy dedicated her life to the Lord through Baptism alongside her son Joel. Peggy is survived by her longtime partner in life, Jerry VanHoosen; son, Joel Nichols; grandsons Ethan Lockard and Aiden Nichols; mother, Marty Collins; sisters, Audrey Petersen and Peggy Gomeau; 2 nieces, Tiffany and Georgia and nephew Daniel, all of whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her fathers, Roy Collier and Dan Collins; and step-mother, Hazel Collier. There will be a celebration of Peggy's life at The Living Room Church, 711 W. Vineyard Dr., Kennewick, on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Living Room Church.
