About | Obituary for Shawn Thomas Gier Shawn Thomas Gier, 37, of Kennewick, Washington died on Thursday, October 2, 2008. He was born in Kennewick, Washington to parents Darla Jean Vance & Gregory Thomas Gier. He was an Industrial Insulator for Mechanical Insulators, Inc., and lived in the Tri-Cities for 32 years. Shawn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, an Eagle Scout and a 1989 graduate of Kennewick High School. Shawn enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, music, camping, fishing, spending time with his friends and family and exploring his artistic abilities. He is survived by his mother, Darla Jean Vance, his father Gregory Joy Gier, step-father James Judy Vance, brother Heath Gier; sister Carol Scott Decker; Grandparents Robert & Gloria Gier and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ernest and LaVon Baddley, Step-Grandma Carol Vance, Uncle Cordy and Aunt Bea Baddley, Aunt Sandra Stearns, and his cousins Mark Jaeger and Niki Vandergriff. A public viewing will be held Thursday October 9, 2008 from 4-7pm at Hillcrest Memorial Center, 9353 W. Clearwater Ave, Kennewick. A Funeral service will be held Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 45th and Olympia, Kennewick. Internment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th & Union in Kennewick. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the benevolent account set up at WAMU under Scott C. Decker FBO Carol J.
