About | Calhoun, Donald LeRoy Name: Donald "Don" Calhoun Date: September 21, 1933 - May 23, 2008 Obituary: Donald “Don†LeRoy Calhoun, 74, a long time Moses Lake resident passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on May 23, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 31st at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories. There will be a reception celebrating his life directly following the service at Michael’s on the Lake. Don was born in Garfield, Washington on Sept 21st, 1933 to Pete and Elva Calhoun. Don graduated from Garfield High School and joined the Army and served four years in Northern Japan. After he was discharged he attended WSU where he received his BA of Education and later his MA in Education. In 1962 he moved to Moses Lake and accepted his first teaching job at Moses Lake High School where he taught history until he became Vice Principal of the high school in 1974. Retiring in 1991, he traveled extensively all over the world. At home he hunted ducks with friends at the Potholes and was an avid fisherman (catch and release kind of guy) who planned a yearly fishing trip to Saskatchewan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took them on special trips around the U.S. Don took pleasure sharing his travels and experiences with others by helping organize and plan trips for family and friends. Don was preceded in his death by his brother Max and his parents. Don’s survived by his daughter and son in law Cheryl and John Tousley of Mukilteo, Washington. As well as his grandchildren Whitney Larson, Tyler Larson, Trevor Larson, Meagan Tousley and Zachary Tousley, Great Uncle and Aunt, Roy and Phyllis Dailey, and numerous cousins. Donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers. |
