About | Judith Lynn (Cook) Dimmitt, 75, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at her home in Orting, Washington. Born December 19, 1946, in Puyallup, Washington to Vivian Johnson, Judy was raised on her grandparents’ dairy farm in Orting, surrounded by her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved spending time with the animals, especially her pet goats and dog, Spotty. She attended Orting High School where she met the love of her life, Fred Dimmitt. They were married in 1964 and honeymooned at one of her favorite places, the Oregon Coast. They moved 5 times in 5 years before building their “dream home on the hill” overlooking the town where they were both raised. Judy and Fred raised two daughters, Patty Kaija (Matt) and Carolyn Currie (Stuart). She loved her family, but she was smitten with her doted upon granddaughters, Megan and Emily Currie. She was a stay at home mom, elementary school room mom, chaperone for the Daffodil Festival, and volunteer for a refugee adoption program in the 1970s. Judy spent 20 years as the office manager of the Heart Clinic of Tacoma, before retiring and working “part time” at Branches nursery. She put her encyclopedic knowledge of perennials and her passion for gardening to good use helping customers and also blooming special friendships with coworkers. She loved every beach she ever visited and collected shells wherever she went. She loved gardening and waited anxiously each year for spring to arrive so she could start her new projects. Judy most of all loved being with her family; taking drives with her husband of 58 years to the beach or the mountains, curling up with her favorite cat, Toby, spending every minute she could with her granddaughters, and making memories in Mexico and Hawaii with Fred, her children, their spouses, and the granddaughters. At her request, there will be no memorial service. We would love for her friends and family to share a note or a memory, either on social media or to her family at PO Box 366, Orting, WA 98360-0366. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Almost Home Coalition, PO Box 1411, Chehalis, WA 98532. |
