Kent Raymond Kornmeyer Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1976
Date of Passing Feb 10, 2020
About Kent Raymond Kornmeyer, 62, passed away on February 10, 2020 as a result of liver failure and pneumonia. He lived for 30 years in a modest bachelor apartment in the flats of Beverly Hills, but was always very proud to call the city his home.
Hailing from Spokane, WA - he received his degree from Boston University, then moved to L.A. & earned his masters degree from the Thornton School of Music at USC.
For many seasons, he sang tenor in the chorus of the Los Angeles Opera and received the Brandon Mehrle Award as an outstanding alumnus of the School of Music. Along with LA Opera, he sang for many small opera and performing companies across the Los Angeles basin: Opera a la Carte singing Gilbert & Sullivan, Mystery Event Theatre, Century Plaza Hotel, Repertory Opera Company, and he taught himself to conduct and conducted the orchestra for several Casa Italiana opera productions.
Throughout his music career, for 25 years, he waited tables in the restaurant of the Century Plaza Hotel. He worked on campaigns in favor of his local waitor'***** union, and then later served in the luxury boxes at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, providing hospitality for Rams and Trojans home games. Politically concerned, Kent also worked at polling stations for local elections. He was a faithful reader of the local Beverly Hills Courier newspaper and enjoyed playing golf with his buddies.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Melvin Kornmeyer, and is survived by his brother, Keith. He leaves behind many loving friends who will miss his kookie personality and wacky antidotes.
A memorial will be planned for Kent in the near future at the El Coyote Restaurant. For More Info. Please Email: Joddith@aol.com
