My brother Ronnie was bigger than life and had even a bigger heart. He loved being in school, but there wasn't anything at school that he would rather be doing than being in the band/choir room with Mr. Swanson and his friends. Especially his best friend Donnie Anderson. Ronnie started Kindergarden in Maple Lawn with Mrs. Taylor as his teacher....I remember his 5th birthday party had Ricky Kuss, Gordi Green, Donnie Gill and Rory Turner (and our neighbor Rusty Irby)....I saw everyone except Ricky at Ronnie's 40th reunion and I am so glad that the class of '72 had a reunion because '73 did not. It was great to see my older friends and to be able to share with all of the people that Ronnie loved so much, the portion of his life that they had missed out on. He went on to be a professional musician and traveled the world. Played at Carnagie Hall, Kennedy Center, The White House where he shook hands with and met President Nixon, then he was off for Europe for a summer of touring the countries and singing in ages old castles and theatres, for royalty and commondors.....like I said he was bigger than life and he loved his wife, my sons, his family and every one of his friends at Sumner and Orting that he went to school with. Remember him with a smile on your face, he was a humble and loving man with so many extrordinary God given talents.....If it wasn't for Ronnie in the 70's when all the budget cuts kept us from doing just about everything....Ronnie would not let the Pep Band die and he practiced with them, and were at every home game, on the stage leading our Spartans to victory.......<3 |
