About Tina Louise Ruggiero, age 72, passed away quietly in her home Monday, February 4. She was a teacher serving with a post Masters degree at Fairmont Senior High School for over 40 years. As a teacher, she impacted the lives of all of her students for whom she cared greatly. She was the eldest daughter of Margherita Ruggiero and the late Sam Ruggiero.

She is survived by her sisters, Lillian (Robert) Mikol, Giovanna (Frank) DeSantis, Gina (Tom) Llaneza; sister-in-law Anita McIntosh Ruggiero; many loving Relatives; and her dear friend, Kathy Anderson. She is also survived by her eight nieces and nephews, Christy Scherf, Joe Mikol, Frank Llaneza, Sammy Ruggiero, Nicky Ruggiero, David Llaneza, Michael Ruggiero and Laura De Santis; and 12 great nieces and nephews, who will all miss her greatly. She is predeceased by her father, and beloved Brother, Samuel John.

After the death of her brother Samuel John in 1991, Tina had a significant role in the lives and upbringing of her 3 nephews. She was proud of her Italian heritage and her Catholic Christian upbringing.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Vigil Rites will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon David Lester. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Father Jojan Joseph as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fairmont. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com. The Ruggiero family is kindly asking everyone not to send flowers to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Domico Funeral Home with the memo “Tina Ruggiero”. Any funds received at Domico in excess of the funeral costs will be donated to Fairmont Senior High School to support the men’s wrestling and basketball teams. Those sports were Tina’s passion. She was a true Polar Bear fan and loved all of her students and athletes.”
