About MEMPHIS, Tenn. Randolph Alexander (Alex) King, 31, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Lerona, West Virginia, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis following a short battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1977 in Princeton, W.Va., and is survived by parents Randolph (Randy) and Joyce King of Lerona. Additional survivors are sisters Elizabeth King of Arlington, Va., and Sarah Carney and husband Mark of Richmond, Va., and special niece Devyn Shea Carney. Alex is also survived by paternal grandparents, Randolph and Jean King of Princeton, W.Va., and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind many special friends, both in Memphis and throughout the world as he had traveled extensively. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Clyde and Audrey Puckett of Lerona and one aunt, Patricia Meadows, also of Lerona. Alex was a 1995 graduate of PikeView High School where he was a member of the golf, soccer, track and cross country teams, and a 2000 graduate of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. At Yale, he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and was a Life Loyal Sig as selected by his peers. He also did a one year internship with Deloitte Touche, LLC, in New York, N.Y., while at Yale. At the time of his death he was a senior commodities trader for Allenberg Cotton Co. in Memphis, a division of the Louis Dreyfus Group. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Directory, with services conducted by Pastors James Reed of St. Albans, W.Va., and Rick Chester of the Lerona United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
