ROANOKE, Va. - Wesley Ryan Akers, 28, of 3126 Bandy Road, Roanoke, Va., formerly of Lashmeet, passed from this life on Monday, September 8, 2008 in Roanoke. Born May 12, 1980 in Princeton, he was the son of Barry Akers and Molly Horne Akers of Lashmeet. Mr. Akers was a 1998 graduate of PikeView High School. He was a former employee of Kay Jewelers as a Certified Diamontologist at Valley View Mall in Roanoke, Va. and attended New Hope Christian Church. Wesley loved all outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing and golfing. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gaythel Akers; and his maternal grandparents, William and Myrtle Horne. In addition to his parents, survivors include a sister, Lorie A. Given and her husband Lee of Flatwoods; a special niece, Hannah Faith Given of Flatwoods; paternal grandmother, Ruth Akers of Princeton; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 (today) at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton where a eulogy will be given by Lorie A Given and Larry Akers.
