About | David John Paugel, 76, of Evansville, WI passed away on February 27, 2023, at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg, WI. He was born on September 9, 1946, in Beloit, WI to the late Henry and Matilda (Beck) Paugel. David graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1964. He then went on to attend and graduate from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA in 1968. He double majored in Economics and Business Administration and minored in Statistics. He was united in marriage to Bonilynn Putnam on July 17, 1968, at Hope Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. David and Boni moved to Evansville, WI in 1969 from Beloit, WI. David was a longtime and devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Evansville, WI. He was very involved with and served on numerous committees at church. He was the president of the council, on the endowment fund committee and he was the head of the call committee. He has bowled at Blue Devil Bowling Alley since 1976. One of his favorite places to go to was the family cabin in Mercer, WI, that he bought with his father. David and Boni enjoyed watching the loons and eagles on Lake of the Falls. All of his life David was an avid fisherman, deer and pheasant hunter. He had a great love for his family. He was a family man that loved to spend time with his family and his extended family. He loved watching his grandchildren and he was known for his raw fries and pancakes that were often requested by them. He was a very loyal and devoted friend that would drop everything he was doing to be there in an instant to help. David and Boni loved traveling with their friends from Evansville and would often visit Branson, MO. He loved to play card games, especially euchre. David was employed by Unity Point Meriter Hospital as a systems analyst, computer engineer and a programming specialist. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonilynn; children, John (Jill) Paugel and Matthew (Amy) Paugel. Grandchildren: Kyl (Hailee) Klug, Brendan Paugel, Samuel Paugel and Mallory Paugel; Great Grandson, Colton Klug; cousin, Robert “Butch” Heck, who was like a brother and cousin, Shirley Hallmark, who was like a sister. He is further survived by other extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousin Donna Navrestad. |
Events | A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church Evansville, WI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, Evansville, WI. Visitation will also be held on Friday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
