About Jennifer's obituary
Jennifer Dawn Tavares was 35 years young when she passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in a fatal car accident in Austin, TX. Jenny was born on July 27, 1984 in New Jersey where she lived until her parents moved to Louisville, KY in 1987. A year later, her family moved to Brookfield, WI where she attended Brookfield Elementary, Wisconsin Hills Middle School, and Brookfield Central High School. After high school, Jenny attended and graduated magna cum laude from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a minor in Gender Studies. During her college years, she served as a Resident Assistant and studied abroad for a semester at the University of Barcelona. After she graduated in 2006, she moved to Denver, Colorado to complete a year assignment as a VISTA Volunteer (Volunteers in Service to America) through AmeriCorps where she focused on facilitating the integration of persons with disabilities into their local communities. Following her year of service, she worked as a Recruitment Coordinator and then Senior Human Resources Specialist with CH2M Hill. She moved to Boston and worked at the Liberty Hotel followed by the Hotel Marlowe, a Kimpton Hotel in Cambridge. She worked her way up through Kimpton Hotels HR Organization and served as the Area People and Culture Manager in Boston and then in Chicago. After leaving the hospitality industry, Jenny pursued HR in Chicago as the Regional Director for Brookdale Senior Living Solutions and then continued in this role in Austin, TX. In 2017, she joined Diversicare Healthcare Services as the Senior Director of Human Resources where she served for 2 years. Most recently, she was the Human Resources Director at CDI Health & CharDonnay Dialysis, where she was helping build the new CDI division. She had also earned her Advanced Certificate in Strategic HR Management from Cornell University ILR School.

Jenny lived a life that was full of passion. She touched the lives and deeply cared for everyone she knew. Her love was boundless and unconditional. Her family members have all learned how to be better people by Jenny's example. She was exceptionally generous. She loved music, movies, art, singing, hiking, running, and traveling. She could speak Spanish, and she was a voracious reader. She recently had become a vegan for her health, for the environment, and her compassion for the animals. She was incredibly intelligent and had an insatiable appetite for learning. She was an empath. She had rescued and cared for two dogs in her lifetime, Puffy and Suzy. She was an amazing sister and daughter. She is survived by her mother (Sara), her father (John), her sister (Alexis), her grandmother (Maria), and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jenny loved animals, and if you would like to make a donation, we think she would appreciate any donations going to Austin Pets Alive where she volunteered on several occasions. Unfortunately, Suzy, her beloved rescue dog, also perished with Jenny. Feel free to donate in both Jenny and Suzy's memory here: https://www.austinpetsalive.org/donate
