About | Marvin G. Doering U.S. Veteran Marvin G. Doering, 87, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Kathy Hospice. He was born on September 4, 1926 in Green Lake, WI to the late Helmuth and Ella (nee Adler ) Doering. He graduated from Green Lake High School and then served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was united in marriage to Elnora %u201CNora%u201D Boeldt on February 23, 1957 in Franklin, WI. During his 70 years as a truck driver, Marv traveled over most of the continental USA and just recently retired from Kreilkamp. For many years he was also a pilot and crop duster. He had an avid love for racing stock cars, riding motorcycles, and flying planes. As evidence in his choice of profession, he enjoyed traveling and attained his goal of visiting all 50 states with a trip to Alaska. Recently, his service was acknowledged as a WWII veteran, with a trip to Washington D.C. through the Honor Flight program. Marv will be remembered by his family and friends for his good sense of humor, willingness to help others and share his time and experience. He was a member of St. John%u2019s Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, and he supported many charities. Marvin was devoted to his family and many friends. He is survived by his son, Howard (Donna) Holz; five grandchildren, Daryl (Mary Beth) Holz, Bryan (Joy) Holz, Lisa Holz, Greg (Jill) Holz, and Kate Holz; nine great-grandchildren, Trisha Holz, Hunter Holz, Joshua (Katie) Holz, Steven Dolezar , Dylan Coltman, Amanda Edelman, Marah Holz, Chance Holz and Ava Holz; great-great-grandchild Avah Holz; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nora; an infant son; great granddaughter, Tiffany and her mother, Jean Holz; a sister, Evelyn Cutter; and a nephew, Richard Cutter. |
