About | Eugene W. Hamm, age 69, recently of Chippewa Falls, WI, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, WI. He was born Sept. 20, 1941 in Menomonie to Philander Hamm, Sr. and Esther (Johnson). He grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School. He worked for a number of years at Badger Iron Works of Menomonie before moving to Racine, Wis. in 1975. He lived in southeastern Wis. until his retirement from J. I Case Company in 2000. Eugene served in the U.S. Army Reserves for a number of years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting with his sons, brothers and granddaughters as well as playing cards with friends and family. Eugene is survived by his sons, Douglas (Chippewa Falls) and Aaron (Milwaukee), and his daughter, Mary Kaitlin (Ripon). He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in law, Philander, Jr. (South Dakota), Christian and Barb (Menomonie), Thomas (Eau Claire), and Donald and Cathy (Menomonie); grandchildren, Joshua Hamm (currently stationed in Afghanistan), Paige and Lacey Hamm (Chippewa Falls), Jeremiah Coey (Chippewa Falls); as well as a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philander, Sr. and Esther. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday November 8th, 2010 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Dave Whelan officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home with burial in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. |
