About Paul H. Kadinger

Paul H. Kadinger, age 61, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at home surrounded by his loving family and Northwest Hospice.

He was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Pepin County to Bessie (Hite) and Alex Kadinger Sr. He grew up in Menomonie and graduated in 1963 from Menomonie High School. A few years later, he purchased land in the township of Seymour, where Paul, his dad and many friends built the family home. Paul retired from Presto and purchased “Mode O'Day,” a retail clothing store in London Square Mall. He later got his CDL and started driving a big rig coast to coast. This eventually led to the start up of Rittmueller and Henning Trucking Companies, which he currently owned and operated.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; four daughters, Wendy (Cheerio) Campbell of Osseo, Patti (Charlie) Sobottka of Durand, Paula Kadinger of Eau Claire, and Krista (Patrick) Lieffring of the Village of Lake Hallie; two stepchildren, Kerri Hazelton and Gene Albrecht, both of Eau Claire; his stepmother, Esther Berger of Menomonie; mother-in-law, Alice Steltzer of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Alex “Bud” Kadinger Jr. of Menomonie; six sisters, Gloria (Frank) Hintz of Plum City, Rosanna (Newell) Herum of Visalia, Calif., Josephine (Leroy) Keenlyne of Elmwood, Betty (Harold) Sabelko of Mondovi, Ramona Messex of Steger, Ill., and Diana (Tony) Gullickson of Fresno, Calif.; numerous nephews and nieces; and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire with Father Frank Corradi celebrating the Mass. Interment followed in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Paul enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada with friends and family. He loved deer hunting at his sister's farm in Mondovi where he usually had his deer by 8 a.m. opening day. Paul had a great appreciation for old cars and collected more than a couple over the years. His passion in life was racing stock cars. He always said there was no better feeling than sitting behind the wheel of a stock car and holding that checkered flag.

We love you dearly and we will all miss you deeply and forever.
