About | Richard V. Quilling, age 72, of Menomonie, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at his home with Northwest Homecare. He was born June 18, 1929, in Menomonie to Vernon and Margaret (Solem) Quilling. Following graduation from Menomonie High School in 1949, Richard joined Company A of the Wisconsin National Guard. In 1951, during the Korean Conflict, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Richard married Mary Dinnies on May 12, 1951. After his military service, they returned to Menomonie. Richard worked as an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie and was also an avid Packer fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary of Menomonie; two sons, Douglas (Connie) Quilling of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Dale Quilling of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Jack and Katelyn Quilling; two brothers, Don (Bobbie) Quilling of Denver, Colo., and Ken Quilling of Amery; one sister, Mary Ann (Allan) Bemis of St. Paul, Minn.; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Quilling. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Marilynn Rushton officiating. Burial will be in Iron Creek Cemetery in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, with military honors by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Sunday) at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
