About | Bruce "Bubba" Laylan, age 47, of Madison, passed away on June 6, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident on Highway 14 in Iowa County. He was born on Aug. 21, 1961, in Madison, the son of Rollo and Rachel (Macaulay) Laylan. Bruce graduated from Oregon High School in 1979, and later from UW-Madison. He worked for the City of Madison Parks Department. Bruce loved UW sports, attending as many basketball and football games as possible. He was very happy that he attended the 1994 Rose Bowl with his good friend, "cousin" John. Bruce is survived by his mother, Rachel Laylan; father, Rollo L. Laylan; brothers, Jack (Kris) and Todd; nephew, Ken; niece, Katie; uncle, William (Bernie) Macaulay; and aunt, Evelyn Macaulay. He also leaves behind many close cousins and friends, especially his close friend, John Endres. Bruce was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Philip Macaulay; and aunts, Nancy Brown and Marie Garber. A celebration of his life will be held at THE NEW GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, corner of McKee Road (Highway PD) and Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at noon, on Saturday, June 13, 2009, with the Rev. Jeff VandenHeuvel presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Friday, June 12, 2009, and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Wisconsin Foundation, Sports Department, U.S. Bank Lockbox, P.O. Box 78807, Milwaukee, WI 53278.
