About | Michael S. Manix, age 61, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Hospice, surrounded by family. He was born on Jan 15, 1948, in Tacoma, Wash.; the son of Matthew and Josephine (Sherman) Manix. Mike married Patricia Higgins in 1969 in Baraboo. He taught in Oregon for 31 years where he made an impact on many lives. Over the years, Mike enjoyed coaching wrestling at Oregon High School and at the Junior High. After retiring from teaching, Mike worked for the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene. He was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. The times he spent with his sons and grandson were very special. Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Sean (Jennifer) Manix of Fond du Lac, and Cory Manix of Oregon; his grandson, Brody; his mother, Josephine of Baraboo; and two brothers, Dan (Belinda) Manix of Florida, and Barry (Pam) Manix of Baraboo and a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, with Father Bill Connell presiding. A private burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare.
