| About | Met husband to be Bruce Shawkey in Madison with a 10 year courtship and married in January 1996. Went to University of Wisconsin with a degree of early childhood education. In 1991 she joined CUNA Mutual Insurance Group. She retired on permanent disability in October 2005 as a result of cancer complications. Their passion for food and travel during their 23 years together fueled a journey that literally took them coast to coast, to Hawaii, and to tropical ports of call aboard a cruise ship. Their travels continued unabated through Gwen’s cancer affliction, often motoring or flying with 50 pounds of medical supplies in tow. |
