Events | Bonnie J. Wendt, 96, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Concord on Sunday December 15, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Alan Klatt officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Immediately following the service, a graveside service will take place at the parish cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. Stephen’s Church or a charity of one’s choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com. Bonnie Joyce Wendt was born February 5, 1928, in Concord, the daughter of Edward and Leona (nee Koeppler) Hemke. A proud graduate of Watertown High School in 1946, Bonnie began her schooling at Concord Center Grade School. On September 20, 1947, she and Delmar W. Wendt were united in marriage at the Concord Methodist Church, marking the start of their life together. Bonnie dedicated 25 years to Schweiger Industries. Bonnie was an active member of numerous organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary Post 349, Concord Seniors, St. Stephen’s Ladies Aid, Sullivan Seniors, Concord Historical Society, AARP, and Farmington Seniors, reflecting her deep commitment to her community. A lover of creativity and connection, Bonnie found joy in playing cards, ceramics, and nurturing her beautiful flowers. Her greatest happiness, however, came from her cherished big family, which included nine sisters and one brother. She is survived by children, Steven (TJ Mitchell) Wendt of Jefferson, David (Sally) Wendt of Jefferson, John (Carol) Wendt of Virginia; grandchildren, Kelly (Rob) Vogel, CJ (Kheri) Wendt, Matt (Samantha) Wendt, Mike (Kayla) Wendt, Nick (Kandi) Wendt, Joey (Sara) Wendt, Dani (BJ) Vista;15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Wolf, June Sukow, Jean Moldenhauer, Joan Latsch, and Nancy Runyard; brother-in-law, Art Mayo; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband; son, DuWayne in infancy; daughter-in-law, Mila Wendt; parents; siblings, Bea (Pep) Coulter, Bernice (Bill) Smith, Grace (Bernie) Gosseck, Marliyn Mayo, and Edward (Claynette) Hemke; brothers-in-law, Gil Wolf, Don Sukow, Merlin Moldenhauer, Gordon Latsch, David Runyard, and Will Simonis. |
