Events | Donald "Don" G. Worden, 89, of Milwaukee, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. Donald George Worden was born in Watertown to Walter and Regnhild “Reggie” (nee Anderson) Worden. Don attended St. Mark's Lutheran Grade School and Watertown High School before enlisting in the Navy at 17. He served with distinction during the Korean War, where he was stationed on several ships, including the USS Lake Champlain and the Kula Gulf. His naval career was marked by his skills in radar and aviation ordnance, culminating in a promotion to Aviation Bosun, 3rd class. Don married the former Mary Frances Kelly at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown in November of 1959. Together, they had a cherished daughter, Pamela. Following his honorable discharge, Don pursued an education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and worked in various technical and engineering roles. His innovative contributions, particularly in developing a sterile, rapid paper bottle-making machine, earned him several patents and recognition within the industry. A man of many talents and interests, Don ran a hotel in Platteville and a technical writing business. His later years were dedicated to the House of Yahweh, where he served as an ambassador, spreading peace and knowledge through his travels to Israel, Ghana, and Kenya. Retirement took him to Clyde, Texas, where he continued his entrepreneurial spirit by raising tomatoes and running a business dealing with hazardous waste solutions. Despite the challenges, Don remained resilient and resourceful. Don's love for constructing and creating, particularly through woodworking, was evident in all he did. His sharp mind and remarkable sense of humor, often expressed through lighthearted pranks, brought laughter to those around him. Don is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Jonathon) Davis; grandsons, Evan Halpop and Joel (Mary Drunasky) Halpop; and brother, Allen Worden; as well as other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Regnhild, and his sister-in-law, Toni. A private service will be held. Don will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hafemeisterfh.com. |
