Events Doris C. Buchta, 90, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Spero Heritage Homes in Watertown following a brief illness.



A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place on a later date at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown or to the charity of ones choice.



The former Doris Carol Riebe was born on December 8, 1932 in the town of Watertown the daughter of Eldora (Saeger) and Ewald Riebe. She married Donald L. Buchta on June 12, 1954 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown.



Doris attended St. Mark's Lutheran Grade School, where she was also baptized and confirmed and then attended Watertown High School. She graduated June of 1950. She was employed at Brandt Inc. of Watertown for 40 years, and retired in 1993. Doris enjoyed bowling and golfing. She loved jigsaw puzzles and painting by number.



Doris was a lifetime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and sang with the choir for 65 years. She was also a past member of AARP.



Survivors include one daughter, Debra (Ken) Hemker of Watertown; a sister, Janet (Dale) Manthe of New Prague, MN; brother, Dennis (Connie) Riebe of Prairie Du Chiene; step-grandchildren: Theresa Depies of Florida, Mark (Kris) Peters of Watertown, Randy (Tracie) Peters of Georgia, Carrie (Chad) Fredrick of Watertown, Daniel Peters of Watertown; step-great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



She was preceded in death by husband, Donald Buchta on April 7, 1988; her parents; brother, Walter in infancy; son-in-law, Jerry Peters; brother-in-law, Dale Manthe.



The family would like to thank the staff of Spero Heritage Homes Assisted Living and Rainbow Hospice for the care they provided to Doris.
