Events | Our loving Savior Jesus Christ took Everett Dale Borth home on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, at the age of 89. The family grieves, but not without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13), because Christ is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:20). Our hope is in Christ; this world is not where we belong; Heaven is our home! Everett “Louie” was a lifelong resident of Watertown, Wisconsin. He was born on November 30th, 1934, in Watertown to Edward and Herta (nee Gerstner) Borth. He was born again through the washing of Holy Baptism on January 20th, 1935. Everett attended St. Mark’s Lutheran grade school and was confirmed in his Christian faith in the spring of 1950. He is a graduate of Watertown High School. Everett was joined in Christian marriage to Marleen Altwies at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown on June 28, 1958. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final days. Everett enjoyed most of all spending time with and caring for his family. Everett worked as an auto mechanic and school custodian for many years until retirement. After retirement, he had fun traveling with Marleen. His interests included hunting, fishing, spending time at the cabin, gardening, feeding and watching birds, fixing and repairing cars, and winemaking. Everett always had the companionship of his bird-hunting dogs. He liked playing Sheepshead (a card game) with family and with “card club” friends. “Louie” also enjoyed spending time with his buddies, “The Slippery Seven.” Especially important to Everett was providing Christian education to his family and helping guide them in walking in the truth (3 John 4). Everett is survived by his bride, Marleen; his children, David (Mary) Borth, Diane (Paul) Boxrud, and Dale (Julie) Borth; grandchildren, Samuel (Kendra) Borth, Jacob (Kelly) Borth, Daniel (Gretchen) Borth, Michael Borth, Megan (Donald) Sosnowski, Matthew Boxrud, and Abigail Boxrud; and great-grandchildren, Ezra Borth, Robin Sosnowski, and one coming soon. Also survived by brothers Gordon and Marvin (Janice); sister Virginia (Toodie) Gulrud; sister-in-law Carol Heidemann; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Herta Borth; parents-in-law, Clifford and June Altwies; brother Franklin; sisters Arlyss Jensen and Audrey Lou Schwichtenberg; sister-in-law Emily Borth; and brother-in-law Dale Gulrud. A Christian funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown, with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service on Monday. Burial will follow at the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Emmet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Watertown. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
