| Events | Grace V. Madsen, 96, a lifelong resident of Watertown, passed away on August 5, 2025. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Pastor Carina Schiltz officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church with the memo "heat" on the memorial or to the charity of one's choice. Grace Viola Ohrmundt was born on February 3, 1929 in Lebanon, WI to Edward and Mary (nee Zwieg) Ohrmundt. On April 30th 1949 she married Gordon L. Madsen at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They were married 59 years until Dad's passing on October 12, 2008. Besides being a great homemaker and raising four boys, Grace worked at Brandt Automatic Cashier for 23 years. Over the years she developed lasting friendships with her co-workers. Friendships that included trips to Germany, and various casino visits. Grace looked forward to annual summer trips to the northwoods cabin. Grace also liked visiting with family for holiday get togethers or family deck parties which expanded to include close neighbors and friends. Grace is survived by her four sons: Bill (Kathy Chiaverotti) Madsen of Muskego, Dave (Sue) Madsen of Watertown; Jeff (Kelly) Madsen of West Bend, Tom (Jean) Madsen of Watertown; nine grandchildren: Beth (Derek) Gerstbrein, Peter (Amie) Madsen, Katie (Ray) Cyrus, Laura (Brad) Janny, Keri (John) Jacoby, Ashley (Jason) Wenninger, Monica (Nathan) Verbeten, Shelly (Matt) Strege, Toni (Andy) Flint; thirteen great-grandchildren: Reagan Gerstbrein, Jake Madsen, Cora Cyrus, Camden Cyrus, Kaylee Janny, Isaac Janny, Gavin Wenninger, Aubrey Wenninger, Myles Verbeten, Adeline Verbeten, Dixie Strege, Kyla Strege, Callen Strege; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six siblings. A special thank you to Penny, Teresa, Cori and Colton at Park Ridge for their special care and compassion. |
