Surrounded by friends and family in her final days, she is preceded in death by her father, Theodore Schuett, and survived by her loving mother, Irene Schuett, her dear sister, Tersenia Schuett, and brother-in-law, Keith Wendt. Born on October 29, 1952, in Watertown, Wisconsin, Jacqulyn showed an early passion for learning and community service as an active member of the Lebanon Luckies 4-H. She graduated from Watertown High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and crowned Prom Queen. Jacqulyn earned degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of St. Thomas, launching a 34-year career in program development and management for high-profile state and national events focused on community education in the arts and sciences. Since 1992, she held management positions in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, including the Mahaffey Theatre, the Pinellas Education Foundation, and the Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions at St. Petersburg College. Earlier in her career, she worked at The World Theater in St. Paul, MN (1989-1991), the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC (1990), and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts (1985-1989). From 1976 to 1979, Jacqulyn served as a wilderness canoe guide at Manito-wish YMCA Camp in Wisconsin and led adult backcountry trips into Glacier National Park for Minneapolis Community Education. A lifelong seeker, Jacqulyn traveled the world to connect with family roots, explore new cultures, and pursue spiritual growth. Her first around-the-world trip in 1975 was made possible by her sister, Tersenia. For the last 25 years, she dedicated herself to community service and mindfulness practices, actively participating in the Florida Center for Mindfulness, leading meditation retreats, mentoring new members, and serving as president of the board. A close friend remarked, "Everyone should be so lucky to have a Jac in their life. Her unique way of being shaped our adventures together." Jacqulyn's radiant presence and lightheartedness uplifted everyone around her. She expressed gratitude for life's beauty, embracing everyday moments, the people she loved, and the wonders of nature. Her playful spirit and sense of humor were infectious, allowing her to feel at home in diverse environments-from dancing to a polka band in a Wisconsin bar to participating in a three-week meditation retreat at Plum Village in southern France. She appreciated a wide range of art, from cowboy poetry to opera and avant-garde Japanese theater, while maintaining a professional demeanor in managing high-profile national and international events. Jacqulyn will be remembered for her gentleness and clever wordplay that brightened the spirits of those around her. She led a purposeful life, always striving to make the world a better place. |
