Events | Jim "Zimmy" H. Zimmerman, 50, of Watertown, was called home to his Father on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at the Don & Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg. He ended his courageous three-year fight that started with a brain tumor leading to pneumonia complications. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church of Watertown with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials would be appreciated to the family or ATRA (Airedale Terrier Rescue Association) for Jim's love for his Airedales. Jim was born on Nov. 28, 1956, at St. Mary's Hospital in Watertown, son of Harvey and Shirley (Tiews) Zimmerman. He married Judy Engel on Oct. 26, 1985. They would have been married 22 years. Jim had been employed at North Star Print Group for 17 years. Jim was a very devoted husband and father to his three children. He loved his family vacations up north, to Disney, and fishing trips. He enjoyed watching his children participate in sports at school but was even more thrilled when he could join in at home. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. He had a love for dogs, and especially his best friend, Winston (who was an Airedale). Jim was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he enjoyed his ushering duty. He played softball and bowled in a league. Jim had a great love for his garden and his flowers which were admired by many. Jim will leave behind his loving wife, Judy of Watertown; their daughters, Jamie and Jodi; their son, Justin; one grandchild, Nicholas; a sister, Daisy Beck; a special friend, Roger Kylmanen; a brother, Dale (Debra) Zimmerman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandy Padol; a nephew, Jason Beck; and his father-in-law, Russel Engel. Jim's courage and fight was truly an inspiration to all the lives he touched on his journey. The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Lozier who was with us from the beginning and whom the family called Jim's guardian angel; St. Mary's Hospital staff; Dan and Erik (the hospital therapy dog); Clearview; Countryside Nursing Home; Mayville Nursing Home; the Hospice Center; St. Mark's pastors; family, friends, co-workers and neighbors for all the prayers and support along the way. Jim will always be our sunshine. Hafemeister Funeral Home 611 E. Main St. Watertown |
