Joanne E. Rowlands was born on November 27, 1935, in Fox Lake, the daughter of Royal and Irma (nee Bretzmann) Rowlands. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1953. Joanne married Donald Ebert on April 17, 1954, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Together, they lovingly raised four children. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. Later, she worked as a medical transcriptionist at Watertown Memorial Hospital before becoming a proofreader for the Watertown Daily Times.

Joanne was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, reflecting her deep commitment to her faith. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Her quiet hours were spent in the artistry of knitting and cross-stitching or immersed in the pages of a book. She will be remembered as a gracious friend who enjoyed the company of others.

Joanne is survived by her four children: Cathy Hoof, Wanda (Mike) Hensel, and Gail (David) Oestreicher, all of Watertown, and Steve Ebert of Waukesha; four grandchildren: Nick (Amanda) Oestreicher of Watertown, Andy (Alisha) Hensel of Mobile, AL, Alicia (Zach) Albert of Milwaukee, and Codi Oestreicher of Madison; great-grandchildren: Skyla Hensel, Jace Hensel, Keona Oestreicher, and Sawyer Oestreicher; sister-in-law, Mary Ebert; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Don, on May 20, 2012; her parents; son-in-law, Tom Hoof; sister, Barbara (Wally) Koepsell; and brothers: John Rowlands, David Rowlands, and Roger (Maggie) Rowlands.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Rev. Brauer, Rev. Proeber, Rainbow Hospice, and Dr. James Meade and his staff for the exceptional care and support they provided to Joanne.
