About HARTFORD - Larry R. Kottwitz, 53, of Hartford passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Larry was born Oct. 17, 1956 in Watertown to Reuben and Lorretta (Klein) Kottwitz. He was united in marriage to Karen Brothen on Aug. 5, 1978, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Larry grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1975, and went on to earn a degree at Madison Area Technical College and WWTC in La Crosse to work as a bio-medical technician.
He enjoyed motorcycling, camping, and was an avid hunter. He collected stamps and coins, and was good at taking things apart and putting them back together again. Larry loved the Packers and was a big "Star Trek" fan.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was very involved; serving as an elder, financial secretary and treasurer. He was also a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, B.M.E.T., and Relay For Life.
Larry was a very giving person and was always willing to help out his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Stefanea (Christopher) Rucinski of Rochester, Minn., and Bethanea Kottwitz of Hartford; his parents Reuben and Lorretta Kottwitz of Watertown; his brother, Mark (Connie) Kottwitz of Watertown; his father and mother-in-law, Murray and Eva Brothen of Friendship; his brothers and sisters-in -law, Scott (Lynda) Brothen of Milwaukee, Pamela (Bob) Kenley of Batavia, Ill., Mark (Julie) Brothen of West Bend, and June (Lucaus) Challoner of Friendship. Larry is further survived by his niece, nephew, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services for Larry will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, W692 County Trunk S, Hartford, with Pastor Daniel Falck officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
