Events Liam C. Coughlan, 23, of Watertown, Wisconsin, left us unexpectedly on Saturday, January 13, 2024. A bright and compassionate soul, Liam's passing leaves a profound absence in the hearts of those who knew him.



Born on September 28, 2000, in Evanston, Illinois, Liam was the beloved son of Craig and Gloria (Afanador) Coughlan. He was a proud graduate of Watertown High School, Class of 2019, and continued his education at MATC, where he achieved a paralegal degree. His dedication to justice and helping others led him to a fulfilling career as a paralegal at Legal Action of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.



Liam's life was a tapestry of vibrant interests and deep passions. He had an unquenchable thirst for adventure, evident in his love for hiking, camping, and fishing. His adventurous spirit soared when he went skydiving, and he dreamt of earning his skydiving license. Liam had plans to further his education in law, always striving to make a difference. He cherished the company of dogs, especially his family dog, Rosie, reflecting his kind and empathetic nature.



A man of many talents, Liam was an avid reader, a passionate cook, and a food enthusiast, always eager to explore new culinary horizons. His intelligence was matched by a witty sense of humor that brought light and laughter into the lives of those around him. Liam was a member of the State Bar Association.



Liam leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his parents, Craig and Gloria Coughlan; his sister, Briana Coughlan; his girlfriend, Sarah Meyle; and a close-knit circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.



Liam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Emmalee Coughlan, and maternal grandparents, Luis and Ruth Afanador, along with uncles Richard and Alex Afanador.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown, officiated by Father Tim Renz. Family and friends are invited to gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Liam will be laid to rest at St. Henry Catholic Cemetery following the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family during this time.
