Events Mark Alan Preston, age 60, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee on May 11, 1964, and attended Ashippun Elementary School and later Watertown High School. Mark served in the US Army Reserves from 1982 to 2002, as a member of the 961st En Bn in Pewaukee, WI retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). After his retirement, Mark traveled overseas twice to work as a civilian contractor in Iraq with KBR.

He had a lifelong passion for cars, engines, autobody and repair, had worked third shift as a diesel mechanic since the mid-1980s and was most recently employed at Lakeside International in Milwaukee, WI.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife Michele (Carstens) Vento, whom he married on January 17, 2003; his mother Kathleen (Memmel) Preston, his mother-in-law Cheryl Mantz, and father-in-law Wayne Carstens; his twin sister Michele Preston; his sister-in-law Jolene Preston, and his brother-in-law Jeffrey Carstens; his children Tyler Preston, Amy Grunewald, Austin Preston (Jessica), and Samantha Vento (Ryan Marks); his grandchildren Kareena Behling, Jesse Preston, and Klara Besag; all his favorite nephews Andrew Hanes (Kristina), Zachary Kickbush (Keighly), Brandon Wise (Fernando), Joshua Preston, Ryan Preston, and Justin Carstens; his great nephew Preston Haines, and his one great niece Addison Haines. He is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Preston and his father Zane Preston.

Mark will be remembered for his hard work, acts of service, dedication to duty, and love for his family, friends, and series of cats—most notably Spooks. A memorial service to honor Mark will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on June 20, 2024, at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield,
