Michael Francis Coughlin was born on September 8, 1952 to Raymond and Bernetta (nee Steigerwald) Coughlin in Watertown. Mike served in the United States Army. On April 11, 1981 he married Terry VanDenBerg at Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes, CA. Mike was a dedicated family man. He loved being with his family, whether it was at home with Terry and the kids or with his many siblings. Mike was a people person and always had a kind word or story for everyone. His food service career began at an early age when he did chores around his parents restaurant, The Sharp Corner. After Sharp Corner was sold, Mike moved to LA to cook at Phil's Place, the hamburger stand his parents owned and in the near future where he met the love of his life Terry (His Angel, he called her). They married in California and then moved to Watertown that year. They owned the California Connection wicker and gift shop and Mike worked with his mother at her coffee shop on 3rd street. They also owned Coughlin's Food, Spirits and Sports on west Main St. for a number of years. Before retiring 4 years ago, Mike was the manager at Hardee's in Watertown for 18 years. Mike and Terry found a wonderful church family at Immanuel Lutheran of Lebanon. Mike was indeed a family man, but that came from being a man of Faith. To a great husband, father and man, we love you and will miss you always. -"Kill them with kindness."- He is survived by his wife Terry Coughlin of Watertown; son, Shamus Coughlin of Texas, and his daughter Bailey; son, T.J. (Cassandra) Coughlin of Wisconsin Dells and sons, Collin, Liam, Decker; daughter, Bridget (fiancé Tyler) Coughlin of Missouri and step-son, Leland Burns; Kyle (Christina) Coughlin of California and children, Fiona and Leighland Coughlin; siblings: Patricia (Daron) Zimmerman of VA, Sharon (David) Punzel of Lake Mills, John (Kris) Coughlin of CA, Kris (Don) Hale of Watertown, Joe (Valarie) Coughlin of Watertown, Maureen (Mike) Wilkes of Delafield, Annette (Russ) Krueger of Watertown, Andy Coughlin of Watertown; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Andrew Coughlin, in infancy. |
