Events | Roger E. Rowlands, 84, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home with Rev. Kurt Liebenow officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home from noon until the time of the service. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #189. A private burial will take place at Moravian Cemetery at a later date. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Rainbow Hospice or Watertown Humane Society. Roger Emroy Rowlands was born April 2, 1939, in Cambria, the son of Royal and Irma (Breitzman) Rowlands. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1957. Roger served in the United States Army from June of 1962-64. On September 14, 1968, Roger married the former Margaret Miller in Watertown. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2002. Roger worked at Lindberg Hevi-Duty for 40 years as a quality control inspector. Roger and Merrikay Knight became life partners in April 2017. Together, they enjoyed Roger's love of bowling, the Packers, Brewers, and Wisconsin games. Roger mostly enjoyed drives in the country and occasional trips to the casino. A passionate birdwatcher, Roger found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. He shared a special bond with his beloved cats, Lovey and Bella. He was a former member of the Moravian Church. Roger was a member of American Legion Post #189, VFW Post #3709, and Moose Lodge 830. Roger is survived by daughters, Tina (Brian) Rowlands-Lueck and Shari Elmer; life partner, Merrikay Knight; grandchildren, Jay (Cathy) Bosch, Paul (Jennifer) Bratz, Jennifer Kruesel, Jason Elmer, Jamie Elmer, Tim (Megan) McKee, Aaron McKee, Ryan (Christina) McKee, Sara Behm, and Elisa Behm; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Ebert; Merrikay's son, Brent (Brenda) Knight; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger is further preceded in death by his parents; children, Kathy Bosch, Patti Bratz, James Behm, and Linda McKee; sister, Barbara Koepsel; brothers, John Rowlands and David Rowlands. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of Rainbow Community Care, especially Emmy Chaves, for their excellent care of Roger during his final months. |
