He graduated from Watertown High School in 1981. He later attended UW Whitewater. Stevan was known as Steve to all who loved him. He worked as a mailman in Watertown, WI, with his brother Mike Kohls for many years. Steve was a unique soul, but devoted his life to the post office. He had a sharp memory and could look at anyone and spout off their address to them. Steve was an avid bowler and board/card game player. He thrived in a competition to show he was the best, and he would win nearly every time. Steve also liked to host his yearly card party and sometimes even a croquet match better known as "Lawn Warriors." He enjoyed hosting others in a friendly competition. If you knew Steve, you knew he could be stubborn, but he had a huge hidden heart. He loved his two nieces, Ashley and Samantha, and was the best "Uncle Steve" there ever was. He brought them roses when they were sick, spoiled them on holidays, and taught them an innumerable amount of games. Their favorite games to play consisted of Cribbage, Contract Rummy, and Balderdash. He always showed up for the big events in their lives. To them, there will never be another Uncle Steve like theirs. Steve had a passion for collecting, especially baseball cards and memorabilia dedicated to his favorite player, Cal Ripken Jr. His interests extended to comics and unique Monopoly sets, reflecting his love for creativity and strategy. An avid gamer, Steve also found joy in gardening, where he cultivated fresh ingredients for his homemade salsa—a beloved specialty that brought smiles to many. Steve is survived by his brother, Mike (Joanne) Kohls of Waterloo; two nieces: Ashley (Austen) Eppen and Samantha (fiance Matthew Struck) Kohls, as well as other relatives and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Wendy Kohls. |
