Events | William "Bill" J. Bergin, 88, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Park Ridge in Watertown A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. Relatives and friends may gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. William Joseph Bergin was born on July 23, 1935 to Francis and Hannah (nee McGath) Bergin in Beloit. Bill attended Hilltop grade school in Jefferson county and later St. Bernard Catholic School. He served as a Wisconsin National Guard Commander and was a 1954 graduate of Watertown High School. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. On September 13, 1969 he married Ardelle Kleemann at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. Bill worked at Brandt Automatic Cashier and De La Rue for 56 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Bill served as secretary to the Rock River League Baseball team for 20 years. He was a member of the Rock River Old Timers. Bill also served as secretary to the 1367 Machinist Union in Watertown for many years. He is survived by his wife Ardelle Bergin of Watertown; sister, Kathryn Ann (Bob) Lischka; brother, Patrick Bergin both of Watertown; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Laurel Marschke. |
