About Cecil Anthony Plato, 67, was called home on Saturday, August 11, 2007 from Cedarwood Healthcare Center in Colorado Springs, CO after a 7 year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Cecil was born in Weber Township, Michigan on November 26, 1939 to Eugene Byron Plato and Gladys (Tusing) Patterson. He attended public schools in Baldwin, MI through high school, and graduated from Eastern Michigan University where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in business. He became a teacher, moving to Gillette, WY, where he taught for over 25 years, sharing his passion for education with thousands of high school students.

Cecil was enamored of music, being a former baritone player in high school, college, and in community bands as well as being a devotee of karaoke in the last few decades of his life. He had a passion for literature, the arts, and generally all works of creative process. Cecil was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, WY, holding various positions of leadership, and had achieved the level of Master Mason in the Gillette Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by three daughters: Doris Kamm of Jordan, MN; Amy McDonal of Rapid City, SD; and Connie Douglas of Sandy, Utah, and one son, Clifford Plato of Colorado Springs, CO; 13 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Byron Plato; his mother, Glayds (Tusing) Patterson; his stepfather Merril Patterson; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
