About | Notice of death from Casper newspaper. The burial was held in the Evanston City Cemetery. He died of a heart attack at his home in Casper on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006. He was born Dec. 13, 1941, to Elmer and Annie Mae (Price) Black in Evanston. He graduated from Evanston High School and attended college in Ogden and Price, Utah, before graduating from the University of Wyoming. After graduation, he worked for the state of Wyoming on the development of a plan to reorganize the state's various health services organizations. He became a landman for Champlin Oil, and stayed in Casper when the company moved to Denver. He worked as an independent landman and in real estate, but most of all loved to farm and ranch a small acreage in Barnum in the early 1980s. Since the mid-1990s, he operated Access Wyoming, installing and servicing stair glides and chair lifts for the disabled. He was married to Marsha Rasmussen in 1965, and they had three children. They later divorced. In 1982, he married Marlyn Corbett. He was an avid hunter and shared his love of the outdoors with his grandchildren. He served on the boards for the Independent Landmen, the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Wyoming Boy's Club. Survivors include his wife Marlyn; son Cody and his wife of Alaska; two daughters, Bodae Black of Denver and Britney Hendershott and her husband of Lima, Peru and Casper; two stepdaughters, Eileen Ford and her husband; and Marlene Carrick and her husband; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Elmer Leon; and his sister JoAnne. |
